First Kill The Slayer Chronicles Heather Brewer Books

First Kill The Slayer Chronicles Heather Brewer Books
There's two sides to every story and Heather Brewer does a fabulous job at giving us our first dose of Joss Macmillan's story. Fans of Vladimir Tod will remember Joss as the one time friend, and now enemy of Vlad's. In First Kill, Heather gives us a completely different side of Joss, and it wasn't hard for me to not only like Joss, but sympathize with him and all he endures in this story.Joss is a very strong willed, determined kid who is set on making right something horrible that happens to his family. What he quickly learns is that the odds are stacked against him and he has a lot to prove in order to become the youngest vampire slayer, something that seems nearly impossible. What I admired about Joss was inability to just give up and walk away, something he was given the chance to do a few times through out his ordeal. Some of the stuff he had to endure is brutal, but it's something that started to shape the character he becomes. Having seen this, and the reasoning behind why he went through all this, made it easier for me to like and sympathize with him as a character. I should say I was more understanding of why he does the things he does.
I thought Heather did a great job at setting up the series and the rest of Joss's story with First Kill. The setting made the story that much more exciting, as much of it is set out in the woods where Joss's Uncle lives. I liked meeting the other slayers who lived there and seeing their different personalities. Heather ends the series with a great little twist. I knew something was up, but I didn't except this one character to be the one that betrays the group. First Kill is a fast paced, quick, exciting read. There's plenty of action, heart break, suspense and even a betrayal that will keep Vlad fans hooked with this exciting companion series. If you're a Vlad fan, I highly recommend picking this book up!

First Kill The Slayer Chronicles Heather Brewer Books Reviews
I read the Vladimir Tod series, and LOVED IT. My 8th grade Language Arts teacher she has the first Book, I own the whole series. When I finished the first book of the Vladimir Tod she said and I quote "You love those books don't you Rachel." I said "Of course I did. They are a vampire book, and I love vampire books." It seemed like I finished a book or 2 every weekend. Since I am solo busy I only have time to read on the weekends. The reason why I gave this book 5 stars is because it was well detailed and right when I started reading the book I got lost in the book. Meaning I was in the book. I would recommend this book to my 8th grade Language Arts teacher. What I really liked about this book is that it talked about Joss the slayer and how he became the slayer. And how he met Vladimir and how his sister died. That is what I really liked about that book. Thanks Heather Brewer.
I'm a huge Vlad fan! I totally LOVED all of Heather Brewer's The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod books! It was super sad to read the last in the series.
But, as usual, Heather Brewer doesn't disappoint her minions!
In The Slayer Chronicles, she tells the story from Joss McMillian & the Slayers' point of view.
It doesn't just work--it ROCKS!
So many times while reading First Kill I was like, "Oh, oh, I know...this is xyz from Vlad! Awesome!" And it was awesome! And the coolest thing is that you could start with Vlad or Joss and be equally as hooked! Have I mentioned how freaking cool this is? I mean, really, it is total author genius here! For real life!
OK, but what's the big deal? Well, Joss is a regular kid who is about to go hang out with his awesome cousin for the summer. Then his sister gets killed. In the middle of the night. By a vampire! At the funeral, his creepy uncle tells him to swear that he'll avenge her death. He swears. Fast forward a few years and we learn that, understandably, Joss and his parents have never recovered from the loss. Joss is ignored by his parents, who have just been coasting on auto-pilot since his sister's murder. So when that creepy Uncle Abraham asks for Joss to spend the summer with him doing wilderness survival training, the whole McMillan family goes for it. It is in the mountains that he learns the truth behind the Slayer Society and begins his crazy & often cruel training. Through Joss, we learn the flip side. Not as much vampires are so awesome, but more of a awww, poor Slayers kind of sympathy. But the way that Joss looks at the world with compassion, empathy, and hatred totally works. Come on, how many people can pull that off?
Bottom line If you loved Vlad, you'll love First Kill. If you haven't met Vlad yet, then you can start with either series (but if you are impatient like me, go for Vlad first because that series has more books!).First Kill (The Slayer Chronicles)
1) Rating 4 out of 5 stars
2) Genre Young Adult / Paranormal
3) Synopsis Joss Macmillan experiences something horrible and with that his life changes. With that change he gets on the path to become a Slayer. The only question is if he has the stuff to become a Slayer.
4) Feelings This is a partner book to the Vladimir Tod series. I really liked the Vladimir Tod series but was never the biggest fan of Joss Macmillan. So I fought picking this book up for a while. I am glad I did. I liked this book and if I had read it along side of the Vladamir Tod ones I might have liked Joss much better. Or at least understood him.
5) Final recommendation If you like the Vladamir Tod series i would certainly read this book. If you have never read the Vladamir Tod series you could still read this book and enjoy it. A good read with some interesting plot points to resolve in the future. I will certainly read the next book in this series.
